Business Law for Entrepreneurs
From deciding how to structure your business, to hiring your first employee or selecting a business name, this workshop will teach you the basics to start, grow, and protect your company. Topics include:
- A general overview of business entities
- Employment law and contracts
- Commercial leases
- Intellectual property basics (copyrights, trademarks, patents)
This event is held in conjunction with the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights, Legal Services for Entrepreneurs (www.lccr.com) – this organization provides pro bono (no charge) services to low-income entrepreneurs.
How to Grow Your Business
A panel of attorneys and a business growth advisor will speak on “How to Grow Your Business” at the Hayward Chamber of Commerce Latino Business Roundtable.
Darlene Crane, president of The CraneWorks, and attorneys Roseanne Torres and Martin Caraves will be the presenters on how to create strong legal, financial and managerial foundations for businesses.
Starting a Home Based Business (San Leandro)
What do Apple Computer, Hershey’s, Mary Kay Cosmetics, and the Ford Motor Company have in common?
These well-known corporations all started out as home-based businesses. In fact, more than half of all U.S. businesses are based out of an owner’s home.
This free seminar discusses several elements necessary for starting a successful home-based business. These elements include:

Manufacturing Day℠ is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. Manufacturing Day occurs on the first Friday in October — this year Manufacturing Day is Oct 6, 2017.
While Manufacturing Day is officially Oct. 6, companies and community organizations plan their events on the date in October that works best for them. No matter the date, events should be registered on the site and can be marked as public or invitation-only events.
In Fremont, events are all focused on Friday, October 6.

How Should Hayward’s Freeway Interchanges be Improved?
County, City Explore Improvement Ideas for
I-880 Interchanges at Whipple Road and Industrial Parkway
The Alameda County Transportation Commission, in partnership with the City of Hayward, will begin studying alternatives to relieve traffic congestion and provide better connectivity for pedestrians and bicyclists at the I-880/Whipple Road and I-880/Industrial Parkway interchanges.
Staff from the Alameda County Transportation Commission and the City of Hayward will be presenting preliminary project information, including conceptual designs, at the upcoming April 24 Hayward City Council Meeting. Attend the meeting to find out more about the project and provide feedback.
STEM Institute Bridges to Employers,
Hayward’s Diverse Community
The Hayward Chamber of Commerce Latino Business Roundtable will hear a presentation on the value to Hayward employers of the Institute for STEM Education at California State University, East Bay.
Doug Rosales and Janiene Langford, from the STEM Institute will share how businesses can connect to the local talent pool through their program. The Institute supports the diverse population of students, community, and the region by teaching teachers, reaching students, and bridging to employers. Cal State East Bay is the most diverse campus in the continental United States and recognized by the federal government as a Hispanic Serving Institution.
The Latino Business Roundtable is open to all chamber members and their guests.
